2 arrested in rural Berne-area attacks

Two Fort Wayne men have been arrested in what law enforcement officials called attacks on victims Monday.

Alejandro Lopez, 18, and David Veliz, 19, are facing preliminary charges of armed robbery and criminal confinement, with formal charges expected to be filed against the men as early as today. Also, a juvenile has been detained.

Details of what the men allegedly did are sparse.

On Tuesday, the Adams County Sheriff’s Department asked for the public’s help in finding those responsible for separate attacks that occurred in the rural Berne area. According to police, men concealed their identities with masks and were driving a light gray or light green station wagon-type vehicle.

More information may be released today, police said.
